I think I tend to avoid saying the things I can't bear to say.

Well, going running...I know how to deal with that. I understand the challenges and the risks; I accept both. As for the rest of life, I hope to better understand it at some point. I expect I'll remain unreasonably optimistic on that subject. I need to go forward when the order comes, like Caleb did.

I see the full moon, and I am reminded.

I am reminded of a promise that I made, that I meant, that I still mean -- that I wish I had the courage to keep.

I could still do it. Opening up enough to write is something I can do, though it is not easy for me.

I could write the letters, but I don't. I remember when I see the full moon; I pray God-be-wi'-ye, and in all my goodbyes I have no heart to say hello.

Irony of ironies, all is irony. I am no stone (not to build upon!) -- not alone; though my heart may well be so. You, You alone I have wronged.

Restore; restore me to You, Yourself -- to You. Let me be broken, but never sundered from You.

You know, I've been feeling like up and leaving civilization lately. It might have a little to do with watching Planet of the Apes yesterday (my admiration for Charlton Heston has gone up a few notches... )...first time I'd ever seen the movie from the beginning. It might also have something to do with the climate-change programs that were playing on the history channel and the discovery channel today... I catch myself wishing there were room for a nomadic lifestyle today. Learning to make something like a stillsuit, or to raise and ride camels (I hear they're disagreeable, but hey...so am I! Or at least, I can be...), or some other silly dream of mine. I don't know what I should be doing, but I'm tired of life going on as it is. It irks me a little that I learned to read with books that were about Alaska, about the Amazon, about the Congo, about the Sahara, about the Gobi...and I still haven't seen a bit of it. There is something wrong with me, to be asking myself why I'm not somewhere far away from where I am...
